UK – New mum’s powerful message of hope to infertile women after sister’s surrogacy

Source Birmingham Mail

A new mum who celebrated her first Mother’s Day thanks to her incredible surrogate sister has a powerful message for infertile women: ‘Never give up hope’. Born without a womb, Laura Knight never thought she would become a mother.

But she was able to share touching photos from a ‘very special’ Mothering Sunday after older sibling Hayley Burton gave birth to her ‘miracle’ baby Noah. The adorable little boy was seen smiling in matching outfits, which read ‘I made a wish’ and ‘it came true’ following the couple’s fertility struggles.

“Lifelong infertility, never knowing and always wanting, yet I celebrated my first Mother’s Day. It was amazing, honestly it was so emotional,” the Rowley Regis mum-of-one told BirminghamLive.

Cancer survivor is finally a mother thanks to her two younger sisters after one donated an egg and the other became a surrogate when 14 attempts at IVF costing $100,000 failed

Source Daily Mail

A woman who had 14 failed IVF has finally become a mother after one sister donated an egg and the other offered to be her surrogate.

Sam Bryant, 44, from Melbourne, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003 and went through six months of chemotherapy before thankfully going into remission.

However, despite medics preserving her uterus Sam went onto have 14 failed IVF attempts costing $100,000.

In a desperate attempt to have a child, midwife and primary school teacher Sam and her husband Ben, 45, travelled to a fertility clinic in Spain and accepted friends’ offers to donate their eggs but every effort failed.

Twenty-nine weeks pregnant, surrogate mum Leanne Davis, 37, can’t wait to meet the IVF baby girl she’s expecting.

Nor can her excited younger sister Rachael, 34, whose fertilised embryo Leanne is carrying.

Delivering this newborn will be very special. A labour of love. ‘We’re so looking forward to saying hello and giving her a little cuddle,’ says Leanne, 37, a single mum to three sons aged 17, 14 and nine. ‘We’re already joking about whose nose she will have.’

Rachael, who — as Leanne’s birthing partner — will hold her sibling’s hand and give words of encouragement, agrees: ‘It couldn’t be more emotional.’

Sylvia Berrey dreamed of being a mother, but for her, getting there was a harder journey than most women travel.

Berrey struggled with infertility, and medications did not work for her.

The thought of not being able to have her own children nearly broke the Kentville, N.S. woman. It led to suicidal thoughts, Berrey says.

“I felt like I failed my husband. I felt like I failed myself,” she says of that dark period in her life.

UK – SISTER SURROGATE  Woman acting as a surrogate for her sister reveals her children ‘hate’ her for carrying a baby ‘because it’s not their sibling’

Source The Sun

A WOMAN acting as a surrogate for her sister has claimed her three children “hate” her for carrying a baby that’s not their sibling.

Writing in the Parenting forum on Reddit, the user Kelsey_Hyl revealed how her sister suffered a prolapsed uterus after the birth of her first child.

Describing her sister’s heartbreak, the user wrote: “She had to have prolapse surgery to remove her womb [after childbirth] which meant she couldn’t have any more children.”

The mum-of-three described how her sister was left “devastated” by the news and fell into a depression afterwards.

A year after her sister’s surgery, the woman offered to carry a baby for her and added that her sibling was “thrilled with the idea and fully on board with it”.

Now carrying her sister’s second child, the woman admitted that her husband wasn’t so keen on the idea at first but said “if it’s what [she] wanted to do then so be it”.

UK – Woman whose SISTER offered to carry her baby finally realises her dream of becoming a mother – after being warned falling pregnant could KILL her

Source Daily Mail

Lauren Hooper, 31, and her husband Michael, 36, of Okehampton, Devon, met their little girl Rae when she was born last month on July 24, after nine months inside Lauren’s sister Ebony Hutt’s womb.

In 2014 Lauren was devastated to be told that, because she’d been born with a hole in her heart, a malformation of the pulmonary artery and collateral arteries to the lungs, carrying a child could prove fatal – to both her and a baby.

As she was about to give up hope of starting a family, Lauren’s sister, Ebony, 35, herself a mother of two, offered to act as the couple’s surrogate.

After three failed implantation attempts, Ebony fell pregnant at the end of 2017, and, last month, gave birth to her niece, Rae Ebony Ann Hooper.

Andrea Friesen of Nampa said three of the hardest phone calls she’s ever had to make were to call her younger sister, Kim Richardson, each time she got pregnant.

Friesen had three successful pregnancies. During those years, Richardson and her husband, Casey, longed to have children but faced painful infertility hurdles and miscarriages.

“It’s hard to see these guys want that so badly and try and not get that — when it has been so easy for me,” Friesen said.

So, Friesen and her husband, Dan, made a proposal: What if Andrea carried the baby for Kim and Casey?
