Although each one is a little different, all egg donor programs have certain processes in common. Screening is the first step in any reputable program; potential donors will be checked for suitability both physically and psychologically. Once a woman is chosen to be a donor, she will be given fertility drugs which will cause her ovaries to produce several eggs at the same time. Frequent visits to the doctor are a large part of the egg donor experience.

What You Need to Know about Egg Donor Programs

A minor surgical procedure is required to retrieve the eggs from the donor's ovaries. After this is completed, the donor's portion of the surrogacy program is finished. Potential donors need to know that they have no legal rights or responsibilities regarding any children that are born as a result of their egg donation.
